Since the team of 60 students who pioneered the first MOTE experience in December 2007 to Botswana & Zambia, there has been no stop in the rapid expansion of the FTLT - MOTE movement. To date we have seen more than 5000 young people going through the MOTE experience.

Botswana 2023

Coming the year 2023 it will be no different. A mission exposure trip is scheduled to visit the Kalahari region of Botswana, followed by a few days of reflection next to the Okavango Delta.

Purpose

Since the start of COVID very few opportunities were available for cross border mission exposure trips. The landscape regarding the methodologies used have also significantly changed due to the impact of COVID as well as how ministries, churches and mission organisations have structured themselves in this post-Covid era. It is with this exact reason that FTLT has partnered with a number of churches to introduce a mission training exposure opportunity for young people with a passion to 'Be on mission with God'.

How to be part of the Botswana 2023 group

In preparation for the exposure trip to Botswana, participants will be required to partake in a four(4) session Missional Leadership program that can be done either online, or in workshop style at their church. The final phase of the training program is the mission exposure trip to Botswana where intentional reflection time is created to prayerfully discuss practical application of the experience and exposure received, within their local community context.

Who can participate

The invitation is for all over the age of 16. Whether you are a small group, youth group, church group or just a group of friends, we invite you to pre-register for Botswana 2023.
Once registered, you will receive more details regarding the training material, the different training options, and key information regarding the mission exposure trip itself.

Included

Training

4 x Session Material
4 x Facilitation Sessions

All participants will strongly be encouraged to complete the Missional Leadership Training Program. This can be done in two ways:

Online - receive the training material in Pdf format and join an online reflective group to discuss the material.
Workshop - contact us to have a workshop presented at your church/youth group

Meals (on the exposure trip)

8 x Breakfast
8 x Lunch
8 x Dinner

All participants will be part of a small working group with daily responsibilities. Each day, a group will assist in preparing the meals. This is no standard camp menu and you will receive well-balanced meals each day.

Accommodation (on the exposure trip)

9 x Camping (you are to supply your own camping equipment; tent, bedding, etc.)

Camping is done at approved camping grounds with sufficient ablution facilities. Activities involved are taking place away from the campgrounds in the communities of the people we will be serving.

There is however one night when we will be staying in the community, where tents will not be required.

Transport (on the exposure trip)

This is a self-drive experience. Churches and small groups are encouraged to communicate with each other to arrange for the best economic options. However, closer to the date when we have a confirmed number of people registered, an option will be proposed to travel with a luxury bus, limiting the number of vehicles required.

No 4x4 vehicle is required however, a high-clearance vehicle is strongly recommended.
