Tropical cyclone Freddy has broken the record as the longest-lasting tropical cyclone on record. It has been a named tropical cyclone for 34 days, crossed the entire South Indian Ocean and travelled more than 8,000 kilometers. The accumulated cyclone energy (index used to measure the energy released by a tropical cyclone) is the equivalent of an average full North Atlantic hurricane season.
We invite you to join us in supporting families affected by Hurricane Freddy in Malawi. Our goal is to provide assistance to those who have lost their homes and livelihoods due to the devastating impact of the hurricane.
For more than 15 years we had the opportunity to have worked alongside many ministries within Malawi, and especially those within the Blantyre region - those most affected by Hurricane Freddy.
Our proposed programme involves the distribution of month's worth of food for a family of four, along with clothing and blankets. We believe this strategy will help meet the immediate needs of the affected families and provide them with the support they need to rebuild their lives.
We have established partnerships with local suppliers in Malawi, under the supervision and direction of local ministry leaders with whom we have a well-established relationship. The proposal calls for businesses, organisations, and individuals to sponsor a hamper, which will then be distributed to affected families in collaboration with local partners and ministries.
Our sponsorship program aims to:
We would appreciate your participation in this endeavour. Your contribution will help affected families rebuild their homes and communities, making a significant difference in their lives.
There are various hampers available for selection. Each hamper's price includes the cost of purchasing the hamper and transporting it from the supplier to the affected families.
Our commitment is to ensure that the most vulnerable families are prioritised during the distribution process and that the assistance provided is making a difference in the lives of the affected families. We will also monitor and evaluate the impact of the sponsorship program to ensure that the assistance provided is effective and sustainable.
We hope that you will consider supporting our program by sponsoring a hamper. Your contribution will go a long way in helping families affected by Hurricane Freddy in Malawi.
